This poem reminds me of the fun that I have had in the past summers. The line “when the purpose of knees was to be skinned” reminds me of all those fun times in summer when I would trip down a hill, fall down while playing hockey, fall off of my bike, or just do a face plant in the sand. I was a complete klutz when I was little, and I always fell down at the strangest times. The poem itself reminded me of all the discoverys I thought that I made, such as when I found a waterfall across the street that toppled down into a small pool surrounded by stones, and a rock wall with a scratchy old rope winding upwards that was tied to a tree at the top made just for climbing. It even made me think of when I was learning to ride my bike in my backyard, so that it wouldn’t hurt if I fell. It reminds me of the crazy stories that my dad tells me about his and my younger childhood, such as when I was 4 and forgot that it was my 5th birthday, and was so surprised that fell backwards and hit my head out of exitment. This poem made me think of some of my adventures from my childhood.
For one reason or another, a large majority of the people in Bradford, UK voted against flouritifying their water supply for safety reasons. Fluoride is a toxin, originally used as rat poison. If you consume too much of it daily, your teeth can become discolored and eventually crumble. In tests on laboratory animals, fluoride has been shown to increase the brain’s absorption of aluminum - the element that’s found in the brains of most Alzheimer’s patients. Three different osteoporosis studies have associated hip fractures with fluoridation. Worst for last, studies show that an estimated 10,000 deaths occur each year due to fluoride-related bone cancer in young males.
This movie tells a little more of the dissagreeing views from an oral surgeon/expert. Enjoy.
I believe that we should discontinue fluoridating our water because it seems to do more bad than good to us. If it says on our toothpaste tubes (quoting this dentist) “Do not swallow, and if you do, call emergency”, why do we put it in our water? It doesn’t seem to have any thought. Besides, why would we drink what used to be bug and rat poison? Every other country that has put fluoride in their water has stopped. So why can’t the U.S.?
Fluoride has a very high tendency to react, so advances in toothpaste and mouthwash have been made to prevent reactions. The changes were for the better and made the toothpaste non reactant.
The side effect of most concern to me is the possible result in bone cancer in young males because that applies in a way to me, because I am a young man with fluoridated water. The cancer can start in the bone tissue, or anywhere else in the body, and can weaken the entire skeleton. It can be cured. Also, the fact that you can be poisoned from too much intake, and can die. I believe that fluoride is a dangerous substance, and should be instantly removed from our water sources.
